Members: Please help us provide sweet treats for the Opening Reception this coming Final Friday! The Guild is providing a vegetable tray and a cheese tray - we needed that “something sweet” - like an assortment of cookies, brownies, other treats. Whatever snacks you might want to add to the table would be appreciated!

Volunteers are Needed At Cider Gallery!
Cider Gallery is short staffed and only open 1-5 pm on Fridays and by appointment. In order for the gallery to be open to the public more than just one day a week during our All Members’ Show, Maria offered for Guild Member volunteers to be at the Gallery on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 pm. Maria will be on the schedule one day a week during the 6 weeks the Guild’s show is open.
We can have one person a day or two people together - ask a member friend to join you! The tasks are simple - greet visitors and tell them about the Guild and the All Members Show. Cider Gallery has offices upstairs and are available to assist, and will be there to unlock and lock the gallery. Volunteers are needed these Wednesday and Thursdays, from 1 pm to 5 pm:

Applying to Art Fairs Workshop

If you have considered applying to Art in the Park (or other art fairs) and are curious about the application process, or if you are looking to improve your artist application or booth display, the Lawrence Art Guild will be hosting a free informational workshop.
Topics will include: Submitting artwork images and booth shots for required applications along with tips on merchandising, credit card and other sales options, event insurance, and general tips for selling and setting up at an art fair.

This will be a group feedback portfolio discussion. Up to 10 images will be submitted in advance to be viewed on a large HDTV screen giving artists an opportunity to see their work in the same format many art fairs use for jurying.
We will discuss image quality, creating a cohesive group of images to be used to submit to art galleries, apply to art fairs or for your own personal creative growth. If you are looking for constructive feedback on your artwork this will be an opportunity to do that but it is not required.
If you are looking to apply to art fairs you are encouraged to submit a booth shot/shots to gain feedback.
This workshop will be open to all media.
High quality images would best represent your artwork but if you do not have them, images taken on your phone are fine.
Cost is free. Registration required. Register online here. We have limited room, and are able to include only the first ten artists that sign up.

Lawrence Art Guild Tree Donation “Home for the Holidays”
The Lawrence Art Guild donates a Christmas tree to the annual Festival of Trees fundraiser, supporting the O'Connell Children's Shelter. The Shelter has provided support for youth and families in Lawrence and surrounding communities since 1976. The 2024 tree themed “Home for the Holidays” was decorated with lighted tiny houses, and festive wreaths designed and created by members of the Guild. A total of nearly 30 members “gathered to create” and share in the spirit of holiday giving during a workshop on Making Winter Cottages presented by Guild member and artist Liza MacKinnon. The conversations (all at the same time) and laughter filled the commons area at Art Emergency where the Guild has its office and a few members have their studios. Wait to see what we do next year!
