New Partnership with the Lawrence Community Orchestra
The Lawrence Art Guild is partnering with the Lawrence Community Orchestra. The Orchestra has been bringing music to the Lawrence community for over 50 years and is filled with local musical artists. As local non-profit organizations we are excited to create unique and fun opportunities to educate our community on both art and music.
To kick off our partnership, the Guild purchased 50 tickets for the Spring concert to help support the Lawrence Community Orchestra. The Lawrence Community Orchestra’s Spring Concert on Saturday, May 18 will present “Spring-Time Classics” of Mozart ‘s Symphony No 25 in G minor and Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished.” This is a time sensitive event, with the tickets going to the Guild Members who register a request for tickets (maximum of 2 tickets each). This is a first come opportunity, request your two FREE tickets HERE.
In a unique partnership, the Lawrence Art Guild will have 9 artists on display for the evening, one painting each, showcasing art with a Spring-time flair. The concert begins at 7:30 pm at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont Street, Lawrence, KS.
If you are interested in showcasing a Spring-time painting, please email Maria at: office@lawrenceartguild.org. Thank you.

Sad news about Bill Bowerman
We received this note from Carolyn Roy, Bill Bowerman’s wife on April 16. If you’d like Carolyn’s email address, Maria will have it available.
Hello LAG,
This is Carolyn Roy, Bill Bowerman's wife. Bill was a long-term member and former President of the Art Guild. Sadly, he was diagnosed out of the blue a couple of weeks ago with end-stage pancreatic cancer. The prognosis was bad and it has progressed even faster than expected. He came home from KU Med Center to hospice care last Friday. We expected to have longer with him, but he is declining very quickly to where he went from weak but still awake and talking last Friday to almost non-responsive today. He is now in his last days. His daughters Christy & Eva and I are caring for him around the clock. He was relieved to come home and his pain is mostly manageable, for which we are grateful.
I know Bill has many friends in the Art Guild, with whom he has spent many hours chatting and sharing the pleasures of your works. Please feel free to share this with your members if you think it is appropriate.
– Carolyn
