Matt Habiger (a.k.a. "mattoast") Limitations Through the influences of abstract expressionism, particularly the work of Jackson Pollock, I take part in my own action of spreading color over the flattened surface of the canvas. Through spontaneous attempts at exploring the similarities between order and chaos, the texture and the highlights become my driving force: to create a world on canvas that grants the viewer the right to immerse themselves into the painting. Limitations is the collection of all the paintings that I have done in the past seven years. “Limitations I” is the first of the series from 2000, size 68" x 68", and “Oil and Water” is from 2006, size 64" x 140".
