The Lawrence Art Guild’s May meeting will be next Monday (May 21st) at the Lawrence Public Library, Conference Room C, from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM. We look forward to seeing everyone!
Applications are now being accepted for the Spring All Members Show at Landmark Bank. The show is open to all current members of the Lawrence Art Guild. Entries must be postmarked by March 2nd.
The Spring Lawrence Art Guild All Members Show will be at Landmark Bank, 4621 W 6th St. and will run from April 13, 2018 until June 29, 2018. Opening receptions will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
2018 Art in the Park
Additionally, the application process is now open Art in the Park! Art in the Park will be May 6, 2018 in South Park in beautiful downtown Lawrence, and is open to all artists that meet entry criteria. Discounts on booth fees are given to Lawrence Art Guild members. The Lawrence Art Guild and Cider Gallery invite you to join us at the Monday, January 15, 2018 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cider Gallery for the Closing Reception for the 2017 Lawrence Art Guild All Member Show, a group show and sale. Fifty-four Guild artists are featured in the Show and their works cover the gallery walls with an explosion of color using a wide range of mediums and surfaces. The show ends January 19.
The Lawrence Art Guild will also hold its January meeting at the Cider Gallery from 6:00 to 6:45 PM. The Guild meetings are open to the public and guests are welcome to join the meeting. You are also free to roam the gallery during the meeting enjoying the art work and light refreshments. Cider Gallery will have a cash bar available.

The event runs Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 to 4:00 and features dozens of area artists. You’ll be sure to find a the perfect, unique gift for everyone on your holiday shopping list!
Remember, when you support the Lawrence Art Guild you are also supporting area Public High School art programs. Proceeds from the 10% commission that artists pay go directly into our Public High School Gifting Program. This year the Lawrence Art Guild gave $7,000 to Douglas County Public High School art programs allowing many of them to purchase large equipment for their classrooms that they otherwise couldn’t afford. So help our artists support emerging student artists with their future goals.

“The All Member Show” will run November 24, 2017 through January 19, 2018. Most of the artist’s will be present at the opening reception Final Friday November 24 from 5:00 – 9: 00 p.m. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 1:00 – 5:00 pm.

In November 2017, the Lawrence Art Guild Gifting Program awarded a total of $7000 to Douglas County Public High School art teachers for art supplies and equipment. The Guild presented $1000 checks to USD 497-Lawrence, USD348-Baldwin, USD 343-Perry-Lecompton, USD 491-Eudora, USD 434-Santa Fe Trail, USD 287-Franklin, and USD 450-Shawnee Heights. All of the school districts serve Douglas County students. “It is our fervent hope that the extra funds will enable the high school art teachers to purchase equipment, assist students in portfolio preparations for college, subsidize high school art shows or simply purchase necessary supplies for their classrooms.”
Since its inception in 1962, the Lawrence Art Guild, a 501 C (3) non-profit organization, has been passionate about connecting and sustaining the community with the Arts through advocacy and education. In keeping with its mission to promote art awareness and creative growth, the Lawrence Art Guild is sponsoring this Public High School Art Teachers’ Award.

This year’s show will be at the Cider Gallery in the Warehouse Arts District and will run from November 24, 2017 until January 19, 2018. Opening receptions will be held in conjunction with the Final Fridays on November 24, 5 pm to 9 pm; and December 29, 2017, 5 pm to 9 pm.
